Questions this week include keeping the passion alive in a relationship when it is no longer new and maintaining balance between your social life and your study goals.
Hi Mary Jo,
How do you keep that gut feeling or “chase” alive once you have moved in?
When you’re with someone you really care about, the relationship continues to evolve and change. The “initial excitement” you feel with getting to know someone changes after you’ve moved in and become more comfortable with each other. No matter how great the relationship is, it will die if you don’t continually nurture and prioritize it. So in your case, keep it interesting, keep “dating her” and continue to grow in sharing your interest. The more you trust her and she trusts you, the deeper your love will grow, adding newness and spark to the relationship.
Hi Mary Jo,
I’m in college and want to know, how do I maintain good grades while still having a good time with friends?
Summer classes are intense and fast. Therefore, maintaining good grades will require more focus and homework. Save time with friends for the weekends, and commit your weeknights to studying. Taking study breaks during the week to exercise with a friend or get a coffee will help your retention of the material studied. However, long extended gaps away can diminish retention and recall. The more control you exert in prioritizing your schedule, the more successful you’ll be at maintaining your grades and your friendships.
