You don’t have to work outside the home to understand the concept of taking a mental health day. Learning to pace and care for yourself during times of high stress is a healthy coping mechanism. Using drugs, alcohol, smoking, over-eating and abusing yourself in other ways is not. Your children learn how to comfort or sooth themselves by watching you. Have one day of the week when you can let go of stress and allow yourself to play. It’s good for your body, mind and soul.
